Latest update for Lomoberry app for Blackberry - Nearly There.
Hi All,
Well, as mentioned before, things are so close to completion. We have the security keys and I can now install the app on my phone without permission errors. We just have one last problem. Whether it’s me being picky or not, I want it fixed. When you chose the menu button, you then choose your preferred photo style of the 5 choices. As soon as you choose that style it takes the photo! So, if you happen to have the camera pointing at the floor, you’re going to have a photo of the floor! I want to be able to select for example ‘Lomoberry1′, then compose my shot and push the button to take the photo. It would seem simple, but as I mentioned I am not the developer and this is the last thing we are sorting out.
I thought I would share that with you as it’s frustrating me immensly and wanted to have a rant!
Rant over and hopefully app launch SOON!!!!

Latest update for Lomoberry app for Blackberry
It has been a busy last week and there have been some real challenges to face. As I have an older Blackberry as I’m sure many others do, I wanted this app to be compatible with them as well as the newer phones. The bad news I received is that Blackberries running OS5 ie. my Bold 9000, the latest curves and others, are unable to store images with frames at full resolution. When I found this out at such a late stage I wasn’t very happy. It turns out though, that the photos with frames (which each photo style has) can be saved at 800 x 600 pixels. At first I thought this wasn’t enough, but after testing the app on my phone, I managed to get a nice 6 x 4 inch photo print! Also, it reminded me that when I post my photos online, i rarely post anything above 800 pixels wide anyway.
What does this all mean then? Well, I’m happy to report I have been testing the app today and I love the look of the photos! Also, after hearing a lot about Blackberry memory leaks, my phone doesn’t jam up at all. I took around 60 photos and saved them to the phone memory and the sd card and all was well. With the latest news on photo size and functionality, the original plan I had in mind has changed slightly, but not in a bad way.
My new plan is to release Lomoberry (once approved by blackberry) to the app store, but then begin a new project immediately for a Lomoberry 2 app for the newer phones. This I am assured will have all the extra functions I wanted in the first place, such as a menu to control various aspects such as what frame you would like for each photo, full size photos and more!! I won’t go into details just yet.
This means all users can have Lomoberry soon, whilst I work on version 2. As and when anyone upgrades their phone, they will only have to pay an upgrade fee instead of re-buying the app again. I am enjoying the lomoberry app so much, I don’t feel the need to upgrade my phone any time soon myself, but when I do, hopefully I will have finished the newer version for phones with OS6.
Tomorrow I will be going out with just me, my Blackberry and the lomoberry app and will post the actual photos here for all to see.
(actually check the p.s. below)
As for timing of release, I haven’t made an app before and don’t know exactly how long Blackberry take to test and approve an app. But I can assure you all, it’s on my phone and bar 2 small changes needed it is ready to go!
Again, thanks to everyone for your kind words of encouragement and I look forward to hearing your responses after I post the first photos.
All the best,
James
p.s. For those that have asked about a grunge type frame, I had a play in Photoshop and made a frame. So why not give you a sample. This is Lomoberry style number 1 and the accompanying frame

How about a photo in a frame?
Please note, this is a simulation. I took this photo with my Bold 9000 and have added it to the frame in Photoshop. We are still working on the final colours, contrast, frames etc. But here’s an idea of a photo in the 35mm slide frame:
Lomoberry update
Hi All,
After playing around with different styles, I have decided to make 2 changes. The Pinhole and Tilt-Shift didn’t really stand out for me. Instead, I have decided to make 2 more variations of the Lomoberry style camera itself. One with a different cross process type of colour and the other a high contrast black and white, which is similar to a black & white photo taken with a Holga camera. I think these 2 new additions will be much more useful. I hope you like them!
Also, I have designed 5 different frames for the photos. Polaberry will have its own frame reminiscent of the Polaroid we all know and love. The 35mm sprockets will have it’s own sprocket holes, but the Three lomoberry cameras will have a choice of the 5 frames. One is a cool 35mm film slide. Then there is a black frame and 3 styles of white frames with different black borders. All of them add a nice style to compliment the lomoberry look!
Let me know what you think about these ideas. Also, feel free to leave a comment and tell me what Blackberry you have.
Many Thanks,
James
